Cybersecurity in Academia
Protecting the Future of Higher Education
Event Type: Webinar with Gin & Rum Tasting Experience
Event Date & Time: Thurs, 13th March 2025, 4pm-6pm (GMT)
Whilst the majority of Universities have invested heavily in cybersecurity, many also acknowledge that staff are often overworked, reactive rather than proactive, and using tools they’d like to replace. As a result, gaps in their cybersecurity still remain.
To help address these issues and Protect the Future of Higher Education, NG-IT and Arctic Wolf are hosting an online webinar to discuss a different way – that not only provides comprehensive protection, but also builds confidence and provides continuous improvement of your security posture and capability.
Gin & Rum Tasting Experience
During this event, you’ll enjoy a selection of gins and rums as part of an exclusive virtual tasting experience (non-alcoholic options are available).
Prepare your palate for a curated selection of rums and gins as an expert guide takes us on a tasting journey, sharing insights into the rich history, production methods, and distinctive flavours of each spirit.
Register your details to attend this event and receive your tasting pack. Your tasting pack will be delivered to you a few days before the event.

About the Event
In 2022/23 University Income totalled over £52 bn, with over 26% (almost £14 bn) raised through research and other funding bodies. A further £15.1 bn turnover was generated by ‘spin-off’ enterprises , utilising the Universities’ resulting Intellectual Property. The enormous value of this world-leading research, together with the high volume of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) held by Universities, are good reasons as to why 85% of Universities recently surveyed said that they had experienced at least one cyber attack in the last 12 months – over 2.5 times that of most other industry sectors.
So, is your University as secure as it could be? Engage with our cybersecurity specialists as they discuss the cybersecurity challenges facing Universities today and hear from Chris Lakey from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) as he discusses how he worked with Arctic Wolf and NG-IT to address them.
